Simply put, Horizon was fantastic! There were 200 people on the dance floor from the minute they started until they stopped. More importantly, they're just a great group of people. Lawrence was wonderful to work with.

We had an age range from early 30's to 60's and everyone loved them. The group consensus was the reception ended too soon. And of course I told them Sam Hill Entertainment. They let my sister, a musician, drum for one song--another special moment. Everyone loved their energy, enthusiasm, and talent throughout the night. I found Lawrence Blow, the bandleader, an absolute delight to speak with on the phone in the weeks and months prior to the event. To be honest, he did a lot to make me, the bride, feel calm, cool, and collected in the build up to the wedding. After talking with him each time, I felt certain that everyone was going to have a good time. What a great person. We had several experienced musicians attending our party, and they all commented on Horizon's talents and musicianship. A very tight and professional sound for sure- instruments and vocals. All thought Horizon was terrific- many said the best live band experience they had ever had. Finally, the band was exceptionally easy to work with, and obviously prides itself on professionalism. The individual band members were very friendly and nice to chat with- no egos, attitudes, late arrivals, with Horizon. Lawrence Blow, Horizon's manager and bass player, deserves special mention. We had nice chats with Lawrence before our party to discuss party plans and our music requests, and he was very thoughtful and attentive to our needs during the event. What a nice guy! They did a great job on the instrumental set during cocktails playing a good mix of slower and more lively tunes to help set the tone. Then after the break they just nailed the party set. I mean, it was awesome. They played a great mix of motown, funk, pop and new music that kept everyone dancing the entire time. And when I say dancing, I mean truly breaking it down hard. I have been to over 20 weddings in the past few years and I have never seen the dance floor so packed for so long. Lawrence nailed our first dance song making the start of the evening perfect for Lauren and I, and the band never let up from there. The range of music kept everyone young and old engaged and made it a truly fun time. We had also requested that the band play Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer as our last song because it was a college anthem for us. Lawrence mentioned that they had played it before and that they could do it. When the time came they nailed it. I learned later from Lawrence that they spent extra time practicing it in advance and are now going to make a regular part of their party set. That is the type of special care and attention to our event that made it go from good to exceptional. The band also bypassed their party set break and stayed on the floor playing for over 2 hours striaght because the crowd had such good energy and they were feeding off of it. Again, going the extra mile to make the event even more special. I can't thank Horizon enough for their wonderful performance and Sam Hill for helping us make our wedding all we could have hoped for. They definitely rocked the house on our wedding night. We knew what to expect in terms of songs and style, but we definitely didn’t know that they would be so good at working the crowd and generally responding well to the vibe of the crowd. By the end of the night they had managed to get literally 100% of the attendees on the dancefloor- something I’ve never seen at another wedding. They even got my grandmother and her 80 year old boyfriend dancing! All the band members were really chill to and really easy to talk to in between songs or on the side. They played some low-key jazzy numbers while folks ate dinner, moved into some motown oldies & swing type stuff early on, and then really grooved late-night when all the old folks had gone to bed and the younger set were spilling beer on the dance floor. Don't let the photos fool you, the lead singer can belt them out... she's definitely got soul. They were also very professional, taking the initiative to call ahead of time and ask if we had any special songs we wanted to be sure they had in their repertoire, and discussing the song for the first dance. I must tell you, in the chaos leading up to the wedding, we would have forgotten to have this conversation if they hadn't taken the initiative. As a matter of fact, they had to be persistent to catch me, and I really appreciated it. It was a really nice touch of professionalism that we didn't expect from a wedding band, and made my wife really comfortable during the last-minute "what if something goes wrong" phase that you, too, will experience.
