I've been a guest at 30+ weddings and have played in a wedding band (I'm a drummer) in 10 or so more so I think I'm qualified to say that the Blue Tips were easily the best wedding band I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. They actually play as a unit vamping on tunes, taking solos, stretching songs out. So many bands just go through the motions and the Blue Tips really brought it. The wedding was full of musicians and music lovers and everyone had rave reviews. Ben Hite was also a total professional about coordinating before the event and made our lives so much easier knowing that logistics were being coordinated.
We will be recommending them to anyone and everyone.

Everything went great. The Blue Tips really warmed my heart. Elliott and Ben are such super nice guys and you can tell just love to play music. They aren't your flashy band and don't play much modern music, which is honestly quite refreshing. The dance floor was packed most of the night and everyone had a great time. The wedding was unbelievable, and you all played a crucial part in that, so thank you.
It is safe to say that the Blue Tips were absolutely fantastic. They kept the party going, and made the night magical. I was a little skeptical when we requested a unique type of a first dance and a first dance song (Grateful Dead They Love Each Other), but The Blue Tips absolutely nailed it and it was better than we could have ever imagined. My mother in law also requested another song from beyond the catalog, and to our surprise, they played it for us at the end of the night.

The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue were perfect for our wedding reception. They played all the right upbeat songs and their brass was fantastic. Also we really liked the way they interacted with the guests on the dance floor (appropriately so ) including singling out the wedding couple for the beginning dance and the last dance especially was really neat. We feel like there could not have been a better band and highly recommend them. They also worked well in the small club setting and the acoustics were perfect. The number of guests that told me they were a great band was well into double digits and I am sure some will be inquiring soon about an event date in the future. Will place this on the Knot!

I was planning to tell you how TERRIFIC the Blue Tips were! Many, many guests came to my husband and me during the wedding to praise the band. Best wedding band I've ever heard! was one comment, Boy they can play anything! was another comment. The young people loved the band, and the band kept them happily dancing until midnight. The whole day was wonderful. And when the Blue Tips started playing All You Need is Love for the recessional, my daughter and her new husband looked stunned, they walked down the aisle to everyone singing the chorus, and she cried a little bit when they got to the back of the crowd, she loved it so much. It was a grand surprise, and the band just handled it perfectly.
I wish we could do this all over again, it was so much fun. And the Blue Tips were the perfect choice, please tell them how great they are. It was a pleasure to meet you, Andy, and I wish all the best to you and your family!! I'm sure you'll hear from Jessica and Kenny too. What a wonderful wedding it was, and how I miss them already.

Thanks for reaching out, we had a great time with all of our family and friends celebrating our wedding.
Ben was great with me leading up to last Friday. We had discussed our plan for the day and went over as many details as possible. I never felt out of touch or out of contact when it came to that.
They did a great job working the crowd and playing the music that best fit the room (they didn't overplay and used the acoustics in the open room perfectly).
Our photographer, whom does several weddings and other events at the venue a month, was blown away by the blue tips.

The band was amazing. I've got pretty high standards for music, and they crushed it on all accounts. It was a small wedding with ~100 guests but the dancefloor was crowded on most every song. The sound/volume was superb, songlist and crowd energy was managed very well.
Guests and vendors (photo, caterer, venue host) were asking who they were, how we found them, and it made me look like a genius. I made sure to mention Sam Hill and your name as the contact. I'll be sure to review both of you and BTRR on Sam Hill soon.

Honestly, the band was amazing. I cannot say enough amazing things about them. They were flexible in the extreme heat. They Covered the ceremony music on a moments notice, provided microphones for some impromptu toasts and learned our first dance song which was beautiful. Most of the guests actually thought that was their best song. If we didn't have them I think the wedding would have been horrible because it was so hot out. The band really got everyone involved and gave people a reason to stay outside. They were so easy to work with and friendly also. I was so impressed with them. I could go on and on. Wanted to give you some feedback on Blue Tips this past weekend – totally phenomenal. They had some of the highest quality sounding musicians I’ve seen this summer, and they played to the demographic perfectly. We had one of the busiest concerts this season thanks to them! Hi Mike thanks for checking in to follow up on our experience with the Blue Tips. They were by far our easiest vendor to work without throughout the wedding and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Everything was seamless: set up, announcing, sound, lighting, song selections, break down, communication. I couldn't be more pleased with how everything went. Almost every single guest came up to us at some point during the night to tell us how much they enjoyed the band. I will gladly leave feedback on The Knot, and we will be sure to recommend them, as well as Sam Hill, to our friends!

The Blue Tips were great and I want to especially praise Ben. He was so helpful before and during the wedding. He learned You've Got a Friend for my dance with with my dad, and he was very responsive and approachable throughout planning and during the wedding night. I really appreciated that. I didn't have much interaction with the rest of the band but they sure did keep me and my friends and family dancing all night! They were also very flexible, allowing last minute requests (the best man's slow jam toast, a birthday shoutout, and the hora). I only wish the band would have been able to play for longer, which was the fault of our nightof logistics and not the band.
Thanks for your help throughout the process. I will not hesitate to recommend Sam Hill Entertainment and the Blue Tips to others.

Blue Tips were absolutely incredible. They are very easy to work with, flexible, laidback, and very professional. In dealing with Ben, he was helpful from the first email communication to the dayof. He was very responsive to any questions we had. We had a few requests which they met without any questions, and we trusted them with the playlist for the wedding, which they did a great job with.
At the wedding, their performance was a complete home run. We're had multiple guests come to us after the wedding to say just how much they loved the Blue Tips and how impressed they were by them. At one point during the wedding, we had all the guests and venue staff dancing. They have a great range, and the R&B/Soul that's in their wheelhouse makes you wonder if the real band is actually the one on stage singing. They really get everyone out of their seat, young and old. We'd book them again in a heartbeat.

I am fairly certain that I speak for everyone when I say WOW – what a party! We couldn’t have been more thrilled with the Blue Tips. They kept the crowd energized, and played songs that were approachable to everyone from Kelsey’s 13yr old cousin to my 87 yrold grandma (who danced more than I’ve ever seen her dance at weddings before).

The band was fantastic everyone loved the music! Peter's brother had hired the same band for his wedding five years ago, so I know that everyone on that side was psyched to see them at ours again. My family loved it as well especially my uncle, who played the trumpet in KC and the Sunshine Band back in the day.
We had an issue for the ceremony when our cellist did not show up, but Ben helped us out by hooking up his iPhone to a speaker and none of the guests noticed a thing (some even complimented us on the well thought out ceremony music, haha).
They were great to work with and such a hit with everyone at the wedding. Please send along our thanks to Ben and the rest of the band for a great night!

The Blue Tips band was INCREDIBLE!! My husband and I are so pleased and wish we could do it all over again! It rained all day for our outdoor/tent wedding, so the band was crucial to the night's success. And they certainly didn't disappoint the dancefloor was packed all night long. They were also nice enough to learn two songs for us I Want You Back by J5 and September by Earth, Wind and Fire. We've heard nothing but amazing reviews from our friends and family. I has the pleasure of working with The Blue Tips on Stuart Raper's wedding here in RVA at Tuckahoe Plantation this past Saturday 4.25. The band was excellent!
I was in communication with Ben (band contact) several weeks prior to the event to touch base on all details, schedule, etc. He was great via email and even nicer in person.
We had a rain plan change that we had to put into play which changed their setup time and they adapted easily and were great about making accommodations on a very, very rainy, muddy and cold event space.
They stayed on the timeline, were gracious and thankful for everything we did for them, were super fun, really talented and the crowd just loved them. I would have had they play for hours more if we could but sadly, had to end everything at 11:00. At the end of the night the band took down their equipment and were out of the venue quickly as well.
I just cannot say enough great things about them, really. Just wanted to let you know they have wedding planner approval :) and I'll definitely recommend them to my future clients!

Thanks for checking in. The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue were unbelievable. We knew they would be great, but they still far exceeded our expectations!!! I can't tell you how many guests told me it was the best band they have every heard at a wedding. They played an excellent set; every song was a hit. People of all ages were on the dance floor all night. Alex's 93 year old grandmother was SO excited about the music that she was dancing like crazy in her wheelchair, and we even got her out of it for a short while to dance with Alex. Most of all, we wanted our wedding to be fun for our guests, and the band was essential for setting the right tone. We could not have asked for a better one!!
Plus, they were so easy to work with. They had a simple form that we completed to give them the info they needed they made it so easy for us! And they were accommodating and let us use their cordless mic and stand for the ceremony.
Sam Hill has also been great, checking in when needed and making sure everything was smooth.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue. They sounded incredible and put together a fantastic set list that kept the party moving. Numerous people were asking about them throughout the evening and a few noted that they were the best wedding band they had ever heard. They took the time to learn a special request for us, Caravan by Van Morrison, and absolutely nailed it. I hope they incorporate it into future sets because it was that good.
Prior to the wedding, Lucas was really easy to correspond with to sort out all of the details for the wedding day. We forgot to bring our first dance song to the venue but thankfully The Blue Tips were prepared and had already downloaded it for us on an iPod to use. All in all, we can't say enough good things about them. A+ experience.

Thanks for checking in! The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue band was really great to work with. I appreciated their flexibility as I don’t have an official dressing room here and they had to make do with a meeting space for their dressing area. They sounded great, but also made note of the fact that we asked them not to play too loudly as they were located in our smaller ballroom with floor to ceiling windows!!
The wedding guests were on the dance floor all night—I only wish we had a bigger dance floor!

The Blue Tips did an awesome job at the WoodardCregger wedding on Saturday! From the moment I walked into the reception at the North Hills Club their soulful sound was filling the ballroom as our guests visited and ate. They sing and play exceptionally well. Our guests enjoyed dancing and listening to them all evening. I had a number of people ask me about them, and the wedding photographer especially liked their sound and wanted their name and contact info.
We may contract with you all again, since we have three other daughters.

The band was incredible. Friends/family were asking who are these guys? all through the night. Unfortunately, we missed the first set due to typical wedding stuff you have to do, but everybody enjoyed it. Please let the band know that they killed it on the last set. The dance floor was packed and that tells all. I believe the band played Try a Little Tenderness for the first time. Please pass along that it was AWESOME! I wished we had a live recording of all of their songs to listen to for years to come.
I know that was a long trip for the guys. We want them to know we greatly appreciate them making the drive. Lucas was the man!
I hope I have an opportunity to see them again.

I can't say enough about how wonderful the Blue Tips were! Lucas was incredibly helpful with having the band learn the song for our first dance and helping us to figure out the schedule for the reception.
Not only was the band fantastic before the event, but they played exactly how we wanted them too and they really did a great job with getting our guests on the dance floor and getting the party going. Many of our guests asked for their information they were great!

We just got back from our honeymoon last night. The band was fantastic! Lucas was super easy to work with before the reception. Bridget and I loved the First Dance song which we requested they learn. The keyboardist had the right tone (sort of a Rhodes kind of sound) and Elliot made the vocals his own these are the sort of things that were important to me. The Father of the Bride had asked that I play guitar on the Father/Daughter dance. Lucas and the band had no problem with this, even though I was playing the lead melody and we hadn't had a chance to rehearse at all.
They played a great jazz set while everyone sat down and ate dinner...we weren't expecting everyone to sit at once to eat dinner but the band was ready! We had plenty of people, old and young, tell us how great the band was. The bride, myself and father of the bride are very much into music, so people had high expectations for the band we selected I must say the Blue Tips met and exceeded those expectations! I had quite a few people come up and tell me that they were the best wedding band they had seen. Band played well, had a lot of energy, had a lot of soul and brought people to the dance floor.
I'd be happy to be a reference for the band. Being a musician myself and getting the chance to sit in with them, I have some insight as to how the band works and I think I can offer a unique perspective to prospective clients. I found the contacts you had provided me very helpful in our final decision making.
I appreciate you working with me and helping you find us the right band! I was a bit picky when it came to the music, but I'm glad you worked with me and that we booked the Blue Tips! I'll also be happy to pass along a reference for Sam Hill!

Whats up! We just got back from Spain, hence the delay in my response.
Being that both Pam and I are musicians and play in various local bands we knew going into this that the expectations for our wedding band were going to be pretty high. Everyone kept assuming that we would find this amazing, incredible band or have friends that would perform. I am happy to report to you that the Blue Tips Rhythm Revue absolutely KILLED it at our wedding. We could not have been more happy if Led Zeppelin was playing (well, maybe that's an exaggeration).
I cannot begin to tell you how many people have commented to me since the wedding how awesome they were. I had an uncle tell me how impressed he was, I had friends text me in Spain with things like that band was legit! and i have never danced so much at a wedding in my entire life. Boring it was not. We are so happy with how they did.
The band members were super friendly, easy to get along with, extremely accommodating, and just overall a real pleasure to work with. I have already been contacted by a couple that attended who recently got engaged and passed along your information to them.
Again, I am not at all BS'ing when I say that the band was freaking awesome and really made our event memorable for everyone who attended. We thank you for all of your help and will definitely keep the Blue Tips and Sam Hill in mind for any future events. I would not hesitate for one second in recommending them to our friends.

Yes, all went well for the wedding and, no surprise, the Blue Tips were great. People love the older sound but not in a nostalgic kind of way but rather a current fresh version of the classic music. A perfect hybrid of pleasing the older generation of guests with familiar sound/songs and the younger with a full power energy of outstanding music. I know you hear it all the time about the Blue Tips (I’ve read all the reviews) but they were awesome. We had an extra large dance floor put in to accommodate our dancing numbers and they kept it filled all night long. They told me they had a great time too, which was nice to hear, and we hung out a bit afterwards. At our insistence, they stayed overnight rather than search for a hotel. So that was cool. All of them were very friendly, respectful, and generally just great to have around. A very professional band with a very kickass sound. I would refer them to anyone and will at every opportunity.

Drew and I could not be more happy with our decision to hire The Blue Tips

The Blue Tips....wow! I'm so impressed! They were professional and got it started right. The lead singer's voice is unreal...I haven't seen people dance at the bandstand like that. Huge crowd and great stage/professional presence with the band....and the expressions that he made were great for the photographer.
I want them back next year!

The band was great! I got so many compliments on them and how I found them after the reception. They were very accommodating to all our requests even some last minute. They didn't even end up using the ipod for intermission which I preferred!
They performed great and if I had to do it again I would definitely choose them again. They were very personable as well. Nothing but good remarks for those guys, they were just great!

The band was great; very talented and flexible and accommodating with announcements, etc. If we are in charge of future events, we would hire those guys again without hesitation. They have awesome sound and are great performers.

Everything went great! The entire ball was a huge success apparently the best we're ever had and the Blue Tips were a big part of that. Everyone loved the music, it was fun and lively lots of people dancing and the guys were all nice to work with (accomodating to a couple of changes in our night's schedule). People have said I should bring them back again, so they will definitely be an option for next years ball and a recommendation for anyone having a party :)

Hey Hank,
The band was fantastic and was a big hit at the wedding. They did a good job of getting people on the dance floor and keeping everyone entertained. A bunch of guests at the wedding made comments that they really enjoyed the music too. I talked with Andre and Elliot briefly during one of their breaks to let them know.
Andre was a big help in figuring out songs with recommendations and such leading up to the wedding.
I can understand why they mainly do private events, but it would be cool to see them play around town every once in awhile too.
