It is not at all a reflection of our love for the band nor experience with them. We LOVED 1st Generation. Our guests and parents loved that they played during dinner in addition to playing during the dancing portion of the evening. There was never a shortage of people on the dance floor (and they didn’t even need to bust out songs like the Cupid shuffle to keep the dancing going - a testament to their skill). Not only was he highly responsive, but he was agreeable to any requests we had for our wedding reception. We even had some strict restrictions on space but they were able to accommodate and still have the full band perform. My fiance and I have VERY different taste in music and so we had to change a few things... a few times. We even made a mistake with the father/daughter and mother/son dance at the reception but we told the band and they just rolled with it and played another song so my fiance and his mother could have their own dance. We selected a Bruce Springsteen song for our first dance and initially, we thought it would be best if we just played it on an iPod or CD. However, Morris suggested that the band learn the song and perform it - THEY WERE AMAZING. Dennis sang it perfectly and it was SO much better than we had ever imagined. The band kept the energy up all night and I spent way too much time on the dance floor! At the end of the night, they were NOT ready to stop playing and we weren't ready to stop dancing. We had to have our wedding planner tell us 3 times that our car had arrived and it was time to go. After the wedding, I had SEVERAL guests comment on how wonderful the band was and that they "hadn't danced that much in 20 years." In short, I could not have asked for a better band. They were professional, courteous, responsive, and so much FUN!! I would recommend 1st Generation to anyone looking for a band for their event. We have already decided we will be having a 5 year anniversary party and 1st Generation will be booked.

My husband and I were married in April of this year in Nashville, TN. We both had different thoughts on the wedding, but agreed on one thing….good music! We searched around through various local bands and online through different resources. When we heard 1st Generation Band we instantly agreed that we had to have them! 1st Generation Band worked with us to make sure we had the music we wanted. We ultimately wanted a good old school Motown/Funk band that would keep the crowd dancing. They were able to play a variety of music from Jazz (great for the parents in the beginning!) to the good old stuff, as well as great new R&B and soul. The crowd danced until the venue closed and they even accommodated our request for our 1st dance and father/daughter dance! The band also did us a special favor in playing Rocky Top to close out the night (UT Alumni and fans!). Band member Morris Drane worked hard to make sure the night was exactly as we wanted it. April 26th, 2012 1st Generation Band is one of the best bands we have ever hired for a corporate event! They are talented, energetic, fun, interactive, and can get the crowd engaged in the music.
