The Whiskey Rebellion was just fantastic. They turned our little front yard wedding into a real concert. Even had a few star stuck guests. The band had some of the worst conditions possible to play under with hurricane Ian bearing down, but they rolled with it like true professionals. We were also worried about what the sound might be in our party tent, but I actually thought it sounded better than some of the indoor concerts I’ve been to recently. We will definitely be recommending the guys to our friends and family for future gigs! They were awesome and every one of our guests said the same after the event was over.

I will echo Annie's words here. Whiskey Rebellion was just perfect for our event. From the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the late night party, everything was just awesome. My favorite part of the night happened at the beginning of the after party. They heard the wagon coming up the hill with 50ish people aboard all singing 'What's Up' by 4 Non Blondes and Whiskey Rebellion started playing it to greet the late night campers. We couldn't have scripted that any better. Annie is correct in that they totally read the crowd and played to them all night. Whiskey Rebellion added so much to our celebration. Please give them a big thank you from us!

The band and everything about working with them and you were great. The were able to roll with us calling the rain plan and played all night. They did a great job reading the crowd too. They were able to play nice background music at noise levels that let everyone talk and then as the night went on and people were ready to dance they turned it up and got everyone in the dance floor.
Everyone was asking how we found the band I told them it was through you and you were definitely the easiest vendor to work with especially considering how well everything turned out! I told everyone once I picked a band all I had to do was fill out one form and you all took care of the rest!

We worked with Sam Hill Entertainment for booking our wedding band, The Whiskey Rebellion. We had a wonderful experience, both working with Sam Hill Entertainment as well as with the band. Everyone we interacted with was extremely responsive and professional. Sam Hill has such a wide selection of bands to choose from at different price points, which was so helpful to us when selecting a band for our wedding. The process of booking was super smooth and simple. We originally booked music just for our reception, but were able to really easily add on ceremony music later. Highly recommend working with Sam Hill!

Whiskey Rebellion's performance at our anniversary celebration was awesome, and our experience working with the band was smooth and seamless. All of the band members are very talented musicians, which was apparent during both the acoustic cocktail hour and postdinner dancing. They helped create a fun and lively environment. We loved the song selections it was a great mix of classic bluegrass and more modern songs, as well as Rocky Top thrown in for our many Tennessee fans. My dad is a musician himself, and he especially enjoyed being able to join in on the upright bass for one song. Our conversations with the band leader prior to the event were relaxed and professional, and the band was very accommodating. Many thanks to the Whiskey Rebellion for such a fun performance!

We could not have been happier with The Whiskey Rebellion. Starting with the first contact directly with the band leader Ryan, I could not have asked for anything more from them. Ryan helped answer our questions and concerns before the event, while also be extremely accommodating to our requests.
We loved having them play at our ceremony, the music/song options were perfect for us and they all sounded beautifully for our outdoor wedding.
For the reception, again Ryan handled everything perfectly starting with confirming what he was going to do before the reception and handling the last minute changes without any qualms (which helped me stay calm too when I was nervous as hell!). The reception performance could not have gone any better from our perspective, the music was perfect for all ages and definitely a key part to getting the dance party going. MANY of the wedding guests went out of their way to tell us how much they enjoyed having this band there!
Having The Whiskey Rebellion play our wedding and ceremony definitely helped take everything to the next level and I am so glad we decided on this band four big day. They absolutely surpassed our high expectations and I'd strongly recommend them for any/all performances, especially weddings.

Our experience with the band couldn’t have gone any better. The Whiskey Rebellion are rock stars in bluegrass clothing. Working with Ryan Phillips in the leadup to the event was super easy. He is a consummate professional, took the time on two occasions to answer all our questions by phone about the schedule of events, and made some great song recommendations. Ryan’s help was instrumental on the morning of the event when we had a last minute request from the officiant for a microphone; he made that adjustment on the fly without a hitch. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music was perfect, and several guests told us afterwards how great the band was. They were definitely one of the highlights of the evening, exactly what we’d hoped for, and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with both the band and Sam Hill.
We would recommend The Whiskey Rebellion without hesitation. Reviewing them on the Knot and the Sam Hill website (if there’s an option to do that) is on my todo list when we return from our honeymoon.

Way better late than never maybe?.... I stumbled across this email and was feeling so bad that I never responded. My husband Chris and I were married on June 2nd at Adam's School and had Whiskey Rebellion play our wedding processional and for our reception.
Being a bit of a DIY bride and securing many of my initial vendors on my own, dealing with Sam Hill was one of the most streamlined and simple processes, all the folks I interacted with were super nice, and despite all communication being through email, I found it extremely personal. Having live music was a bit of a splurge for us but without a doubt one of the best decisions we made. Everything come wedding day went seamlessly and our onsite planner helped coordinate with them the day of. We and every single one of our guests raved about the music and how interactive and fun the band was. They learned 'Die a Happy Man' by Thomas Rhett for our first dance and I just loved being able to pick that song. It means so much to us and the bluegrass spin on the song was just beautiful. I cannot say enough how much energy and fun a live band adds to an event, how great Whiskey Rebellion was and the exceptional service provided by Sam Hill Entertainment. The only thing I was left asking myself is.....when can we do this again?! Thank you all again so much for the most memorable jump into forever for my husband and I. We will never forget it.

Hi Justin, sorry for the long delay, there's been a lot to get done once we got back from our honeymoon. The Whiskey Rebellion was the highlight of our wedding reception and was one of the main ingredients for our party being as fun as it was. We heard over and over again from guests that they were the best wedding band they'd ever heard and the dance floor was overflowing the whole night we even had everyone shouting for an encore after the last song because nobody wanted the party to end. Their music is so fun and lively that it's hard for anyone to resist dancing, and their covers appealed to every age group we had grandmothers dancing next to Millennials. They were also extremely professional and courteous, and were very communicative leading up to the wedding. They also kindly accommodated us by playing acoustically outside during our outdoor lawn game cocktail hour, which really set the scene. If you want a good time at your wedding, you can't go wrong with The Whiskey Rebellion!
Working with Sam Hill made it very easy for us, I felt like the whole process from booking to the event was simple and seamless. Can't recommend you guys enough!

The Whiskey Rebellion performed the ceremony and cocktails hour and were very easy to work with and accommodating through the whole planning process. They tailored the ceremony music exactly to what we were looking for (traditional, but rustic and with some unique elements) and sounded great. We didn't get to hear much of cocktail hour due to family pictures, but I heard rave reviews from our guests and the small part I got to experience was great.

We could NOT have been happier with Whiskey Rebellion! They were so good, and easily transitioned from the ceremony to the happy hour to the reception dinner spot. The music was phenomenal. When I heard them playing bluegrass for the guests while they got seated at the ceremony, it made me feel so happy! You wouldn't believe how many people were raving about them and asking where I found them and where they were from. My only regret is that I didn't actually get to meet them and say Hello and Thank you..... Hectic day for a bride... But Gates said they were great.
One thing I wanted to ask you is, I know pretty much everything was included, which made things so simple, but was tip included as well? I had my dad give Ryan the check covering the balance, but if tip is not included, I'd love to send them some extra for being so goddamn easy and awesome!

Honestly, my main feedback is that these guys should be asking for more money. Every single guest, from my old fraternity brothers to our older relatives, wanted to know where we found the band and how they could see them play again in the future. I told them at the end of the night, that we had figured people would be wandering down away from the dance floor to spend time by the lake and campfire but we couldn't tear ourselves away from the band.
Aside from blowing people's minds with their skill, sound, and the greatest setlist I've ever seen (Psycho Killer finale, are you serious??!), they were consummate professionals to work with, on the ball with everything, handled the crowd beautifully, and made everything easier for us. What more can you ask for.
I'll be sure to continue recommending Sam Hill and The Whiskey Rebellion to everyone I know. You guys rock.

Just got back from our minimoon in Bermuda and getting back into the swing of normal life! I have to say, The Whiskey Rebellion was absolutely FANTASTIC at our wedding on May 30th. We really couldn't have been happier with their performance. Working with them was an absolute dream Ryan was so incredibly responsive and accommodating in designing the sets for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Their performances of our special requested songs were beautiful, and they really got everyone going and out on the dance floor with energy by the end of the night! We only wished we could have had them play longer (but our venue had strict limits on when we had to end.) I can't say this enough: THE BAND WAS GREAT. I reached out to Ryan about 2 weeks before the wedding to discuss a few things, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. They arrived on time, set up quickly, and were very professional all night. They accommodated most of our song requests (we made a lot ahead of time) and helped to run the iPod playlists for cocktail hour and the first dances.

Booking the Whiskey Rebellion was the first decision we made after setting our date and it proved to be the best, too. We wanted a sound that fit the barn setting we didn't want the usual wedding band. Our friends and family have been to dozens upon dozens of weddings and we wanted something they'd remember. I'll admit we were a little nervous about how it would actually go off though. And as the date approached and we hadn't found time to really think out what songs we wanted to hear, we got more nervous. What if they play Bon Jovi?!
The band knocked it out of the park. First, they talked to us beforehand and really put us at ease concerning the order and selection of songs. We didn't have to do anything but enjoy ourselves. Secondly, they sounded amazing both in terms of the songs they choose and how they played them. Lastly, they were great with the crowd. They allowed my best man to play on a few songs with them and even helped pull off my wife's big surprise for me (a new Telecaster!!!) The dance floor was on fire with people genuinely enjoying themselves. I received so many compliments about the band I lost count. We have also forwarded your information on to a few guests that want to book them.

I just wanted to send you an email letting you know how much we LOVED The Whiskey Rebellion!! From start to finish, they couldn't have done a better job. The ceremony music was beautiful and the reception music was amazing! They did such a great job of keeping everyone dancing. Hi Andy!

We absolutely loved Whiskey Rebellion! There were people dancing at our wedding who we've never seen let loose before (not even at other weddings!). So many people from our wedding commented how much they loved that we chose a bluegrass band because it was so much more fun to dance to and listen to then a standard DJ. They were so sweet, too, because they chose to play the song we requested for our ceremony (January Wedding, Avett Brothers) as a special last dance song, for just the two of us. Ryan was great about staying in touch with both me and our planner, Cody Grannis (Amore Events by Cody), and was flexible with some of my specific requests for the ceremony, which they did without a problem.
WR is definitely a wonderful band for the bride and groom who don't want a DJ or a big band, but want to stick to their rock/folk/bluegrass musical roots! Would happily go to one of their concerts to hear them play again! They were definitely the perfect choice for our wedding.

So many people complemented them they are fabulous musicians, and knew exactly what to play to get people on the dance floor. They were able to read the crowd and keep the energy going when necessary. They have a huge repertoire, so they could play some requests and role with the vibe of the crowd. They even handled some drunk, microphone hungry guests with humor and grace ;) It was great! I would definitely recommend them and hope to see them live again. The band was great! Ryan made sure to come talk to me before the ceremony and volunteered to help us with the iPod that was playing music for the ceremony. He also made sure to talk about all the songs for first dances etc. They played a great variety of music, not too loud during dinner and then kicked it up for the dancing after the food was gone. They played a couple of cool covers and a lot of great dancing music.

Anywho~ the bad was AWESOME. I felt so good about them even before the wedding day because Ryan was so wonderful to work with and so easy to communicate with. Brad and I felt totally taken care of. WR did such a great job at the ceremony and reception. Everyone LOVED them. Loved that they were both unique and played awesome music. The music was perfect through dinner when everyone was just hanging out and eating and were awesome to dance to later in the night. We were 110% happy with them.

Thank you again for all of your help. You have been wonderful to work with as well. Music was so important to us for the wedding and I feel like we got exactly what we wanted. Yay!

I know Gwen has already contacted you, but I want to second her remarks. The band was so great. They were flexible, easy going, and cheerful the whole evening. They are not just a great wedding band, they're a great band, plain and simple, and they gave us a great show. People danced all night, and really danced. At the end of the night they must have played about 6 encores, because people were so enthusiastic about them.

I am so glad they played for us. I can't imagine a more perfect band. It would not have been nearly the same party without them.

We had an awesome time! The band was PERFECT, and we've had tons of family and friends ask about them. I can't even imagine what the night would have been like without the Whiskey Rebellion! They really set the tone for the whole party. They had everyone dancing and cheering. It was like no wedding I've ever seen.

In addition, before the party Ryan was awesome about communicating with us. He made a wonderful playlist for when the band was taking a break and even included a last dance a song that played while they were packing up, which he knew that we were thinking of having as our first dance but ended up not choosing. It was a really sweet gesture!

I would recommend these guys to anyone, anywhere, for anything. They've got a great sound and lots of heart.

We couldn't have been more pleased with Whiskey Rebellion. Ryan was so friendly and easy to work with as we planned everything before the wedding, and they were absolutely the highlight of the night. They got everyone out and dancing, let friends come up on stage to sing, and played great song after great song. The reception was at a restaurant, and the band was in the upstairs bar. You could literally see the floors/ceilings shaking above you if you stood downstairs because everyone was dancing and stomping along! I will certainly pass your information along to everyone who has asked about Whiskey Rebellion. A lot of our friends from school live in the Virginia area, so you may get some calls from them for future events. In the meantime, lots of people in Oxford said they wanted to try and get Whiskey Rebellion back down to Mississippi!

Whiskey Rebellion played for an informal party on July 4, the night before our wedding. We had all of the guests there to get acquainted before the big day. WR was AMAZING. From the first note they played, everyone was talking about how great the music was. After about an hour into the party, we pushed the tables aside to create a dance floor, and didn't sit down again until the end of the night. Even my 85yearold grandmother was out there! We had guests of all ages and from all over the country, and the music was enjoyed by everyone. One of my teenaged cousins said it was the most fun he'd ever had. It was the perfect atmosphere for our friends and families to meet and get to know each other. And just minutes before the fireworks started, the band started playing America the Beautiful. It was perfect.
We would be thrilled to act as a reference or write a recommendation for Whiskey Rebellion's future clients. We also had a professional photographer there, and we will pass along any photos of the band that she got. Please let us know how we can support this amazing group.
