The band did a great job! They arrived on time, were flexible in set up (the space was quite small until we were able to move tables), had all of the details from my timeline and had the guests dancing the entire night. They did not require micromanaging at all, took breaks when scheduled and the MC did a great job. I would definitely recommend them again.
One thing that I always point on with clients when they ask me if I have worked with specific bands, is that your company is always great with communication leading up to the event, the bands need very little guidance as they come prepared and I have never had a problem with adjustments/ formality timing changes on the day of. Regardless of whether I have worked with the specific bands or not, I can vouch for all of the bands your company has recommended.

The Significant Others are an 11 out of 10! We seriously cannot recommend this band enough, they exceeded all of our expectations and were the highlight of the reception! We got nothing but compliments from almost every single guest as they left the reception drenched in sweat from dancing so much.
When we initially saw that our song requests were limited and that the band would feel out the crowd, I was a little nervous, so someone in the band is VERY good at feeling out the crowd because every song seemed better than the last. They knew exactly what we needed to hear, and when they gave us an encore at the very end, it felt like being at any other concert.
In addition to the reception, we had planned to do ceremony music on our own but the person that was going to control that had to back out 2 weeks before the wedding, and Scott graciously agreed to step in, which just shows that they were willing to go above and beyond to make the day perfect.
Obviously we were bouncing around the whole night, but my only regret from that day is not spending more time on the dance floor myself!

Everything about the Significant Others' performance was perfection, and I think really gave our wedding that something special. Nearly everyone commented to us that the band was amazing, and one person even said they were the best wedding band they had EVER seen! Leading up to the day of the wedding, the band was very communicative and worked with us to figure out their power needs. The day of, the ceremony guitarist fit in seamlessly and he played beautifully. The dinner set was just the right level of volume/songs we loved but not ones we'd want to be out on the dance floor for, and once the dancing started, they were incredible! The dance floor was packed all night long and they even accommodated with an encore number that had every single person jumping around for joy. Overall we will be highly recommending them to anyone and everyone who is getting married in the area for probably the next ten years!

Three words: oh. My. Gosh!!!!!
I loved having The Significant Others at my wedding. There are several reasons but here’s one of the biggest: I was suppose to change into an exit dress at the end of the wedding and it was going to be a surprise. Unfortunately, due to dress malfunctions, that didn’t happen. I was talking with the band and they told me when there were 2 songs left in the set (that was my cue to change). When I was changing back into my original dress, I sent two bridesmaids out to the band to have them keep playing while I get into my dress and they did without hesitation… just knowing they were gonna keep playing while I got myself resituated meant so much!
They were fantastic and please send my sincerest thanks to them! I’ll also be sure to leave reviews on all the wedding websites I’m on!

I cannot sing enough praises towards how incredible The Significant Others were! Scott made working with them incredibly easy and promoted a sense of calm and confidence that they would deliver on the night of. Almost every guest I have spoken to since the wedding made a point to say how fantastic the band was. They kept it upbeat, light and fun for all with their range of music selections, their energy and personalities, and the arrangement of instruments they had present. Samantha and I were able to listen to them until the end of the night and everyone was calling for an ENCORE after they finished what was supposed to be their last song of the night! An encore at a wedding is unheard of as far as I know, but they were THAT good (oh, and the encore was amazing as well).
As for working with Sam Hill, all was smooth and easy! Thanks for everything!

Andrew, please let me just say, briefly, how wonderful the band was to work with. They are talented, fun, accommodating, and obviously experienced. They kept the dancefloor popping until it was time for everybody to leave people did not want to pause dancing! They handled lastminute changes (on my side) with ease and grace, and truly went above and beyond to make sure the party kept rolling.
That is to say nothing of the way they embraced my family playing alongside them and taking the stage for a few songs this, too, they handled like pros.

Oh. they were soooooooo good. I mean, so so so good. So not the typical wedding band working in the prerecorded music to play songs that are NEVER played by a live band was huge. The guests danced all night even on breaks. They were fantastic. Stuck to the schedule and we're easy to work with. We had an issue with space at the beginning but worked it out easily and I think was actually a better solve than the initial idea. So really loved them. Going to spread the word about them to lots of planners.

I cannot tell you how impressed we were with The Significant Others. Scott was great to work with leading up to the wedding he always responded to my emails, answered my questions, and was accommodating to my requests. At the wedding, the band blew us away. We got SO many compliments from our guests on the band saying they are the best band they've ever seen at a wedding. The Sig O's talent is obvious: an amazing front man, crazy entertaining lead guitarist, and topnotch professionalism. I loved their set up/back drop and the sound quality was fantastic. They created a set list that was perfect and kept the dance floor packed the entire night (in a crowd we weren't sure would be big dancers!). Scott also invited me up to sing a song with them since he knew I loved The Wood Brothers and am a vocalist, which was very thoughtful and a ton of fun. They helped make the evening flow smoothly making any announcements I had requested and planning their set breaks at natural pauses in the event. I would recommend The Significant Others and Sam Hill to anyone who asks.
Thank you so much for making the booking process smooth and easy and encouraging me to go with the Sig O's who were the perfect band for our wedding. We had the best time.

I enjoyed the music myself and I couldn't keep my wife and two of my best friends off the dance floor together; while I was too busy in my other duties as Chairman to enjoy the same privilege! We could not have been more pleased with The Significant Others and Scott Milstead. Scott communicated with me in advance to work out details (our event was straightforward, a family reunion rather than a wedding, etc.). When the band arrived, they were the consummate professionals. They quickly surveyed the site and went about setting up their equipment. The sound engineer monitored the environment throughout the evening and the music was tremendous. We provided them with dinner and a private break/changing room and they seemed pleased with the arrangements.
I particularly appreciated the band’s patience when they were approached by some guests to play music other than what I had contracted them to play. They handled the situation professionally and seamlessly. It’s a challenge to entertain a group spanning four generations and trying to appeal to everyone. The Significant Others did a fantastic job and I would recommend them wholeheartedly.
We typically conclude our reunion with John Lennon's song, “Let It Be”, which the band perfected at the last minute because I only gave them one week’s notice. It’s a very important song for my 93 year old fatherinlaw who associates more significance to it than most of the younger members of our family. We all hold hands in a large circle, sing the song together and then launch wish lanterns into the country sky. It was a perfect evening.

The wedding was fantastic and the whole day could not have worked out better. The band was fabulous!. We are still getting compliments from our guests on how much fun they had and how great the music was. People wouldn't leave the dance floor at the end of the night. The music set the tone for a great after party Saturday night and which continue Sunday as our home!!
We are all very impressed by the bands versatility and their musicianship. A very talented group of musicians whose ability to play a wide range of music very well. I was impressed and greatly appreciate by the bands effort to learn the song I chose to dance with my daughter. As a life long Neil Young fan, I and others thought their rendition was excellent!
We certainly benefited from the groups experience with these types of events. They we flexible and controlled the pace of the evening very well. The sound set up was perfectly for the room. I had a chance to speak with the guys for a few minutes and found them very personable and professional. The Marriott staff had positive comments as well. They said it was the best band they had heard at one of their weddings. People from the other events were asking as well!
Working with Sam Hill was positive experience. The communication was always clear and direct. At no time did I feel we did not have the information we needed to make decisions and take action. All things considered feel Sam Hill is a very well managed organization.
The best compliment I can make is that when my second daughter's wedding happens, the Significant Others will be our band. Went that time comes we'll be in touch.

Among the compliments given to the band (in addition to an encore request which they performed for us) were comments such as “I would pay to see them”… “Where else can I see them?”… “Best wedding band I’ve ever heard”…”Where did you guys find them?”… “Amazing range/selection”… “I love their setlist”…. “They sound amazing!”… etc. They were an absolute hit, well organized, exceptionally talented, flexible and accommodating to our requests and the mood/feel/flow of the evening, and all around pleasant and easy going to work with. Their willingness to learn our first dance song (even under shorter notice than requested in the timeline), made our first dance truly memorable. When my iPod went defunct at the time of the cake cutting, Scott offered up his phone to stream the song that I wanted to have played. And their attention to detail with lighting and their backdrop set the stage for a great performance their backdrop even matched (coincidentally) our own wall art for the evening. We are extremely grateful to have found such a wonderful group of musicians to perform at our wedding, and thank you at Sam Hill for making that possible.

Good Morning!
My husband, Matt Bush and I were just married on June 11, 2016 and The Significant Others played at our wedding in Martinsville, VA. There were so many things I wanted to tell them that night but with the chaos of running around I just couldn't get to them.
About two years ago, Matt and I attended the Pillow wedding in Charlottesville, VA. The Significant Others played at that band and I will NEVER forget how much fun I had there! All night I was on the dance floor, and I didn't even care that I hardly knew anyone there or that I was one of three people on the dance floor because the awesome music and just the overall energy the band gave made me want to dance all night! Once I found out the bands name I would never forget it!
One year after that, Matt asked me to marry him and the very first thing I responded (after I said yes, of course) was WE HAVE GOT TO BOOK THE SIGNIFICANT OTHERS!!!! By that Monday (2 days later) my mother in law had called and booked the band! I knew how popular they were and I wanted to make sure they would be free for our wedding. All night I was SO excited just picturing how perfect our wedding was going to be....and now I get to relive just how perfect our wedding actually was!!
I cannot thank the band enough for going out of there way numerous times just to make sure Matt and I were happy. They played my all time favorite song for Matt and I's first dance and did a GREAT job with Matt and his mom's first dance. They were very kind and patient to let my father and I do a mash up of hip hop dance songs for our first dance with no questions asked.
Right after our first dance I remember staying out on the dance floor and not grabbing food or a drink, but just wanting to dance to my favorite band. I was pulling everyone I could find out to dance and looking around that night, and even back on the pictures now there is such a huge and humble smile/laughter on every person's face and I have The Significant Others to 100% thank for that!
Later on in the night, some of Matt's family friends asked if the band could play My Humps and let them sing karaoke. While all I wanted to do was listen to the band, I really did feel obligated to ask the band because these girls were my new husbands friends and I really wanted to make them happy! The band quickly agreed to my request and let my friends and I sing that hilarious song. THEN, the boys wanted to do the same thing to It's Raining Men. I'm sure at this point the band was annoyed with us, but I could not tell! Thank you for being so incredibly patient with us as we celebrated! This moment was one of the most talked about moments and videos are everywhere of us! I'm laughing out loud as I type this email remembering how much fun we had! That would not have been possible had the band not been so flexible with us.
Bottom line, The Significant Others continued to go out of their way all night long to make sure that Matt and I were happy. I actually feel bad for how many strange requests we had and how many times we probably prevented them from playing their set they planned, but I am so incredibly thankful for every member of this talented, energetic, and patient band! I loved their music and energy two years ago, and now I can say I love what amazing people they are. They are all truly professionals and our wedding would not have been the best day of my life had I hired any other band but The Significant Others. All 275 of our guests have not stopped calling and emailing me to tell me how much fun they had dancing and singing along to the band, so I thank you for making our guests have a great night!

I hope this message finds you well! I have to say, our wedding was absolute perfection!!!
The Significant Others were magnificent from start to finish! I regret to tell you that we relegated the band to the dining room of our venue, an ancestral home. Although we offered the band a lovely space, it permitted very little privacy. As far as I know, there was not a single complaint about this from The Significant Others. In fact, it was magical to hear the band warming their voices when I was up the stairs or inside the house. In addition, makeup and hair artists had me sit in a dining room chair to touch up slightly before the ceremony, and the band never made anyone feel uncomfortable. I took the opportunity with the band to say how much Adam and I loved them when we heard them at another wedding, and they responded kindly, humbly, and warmly. From what I could see, they were completely professional and appropriate.
Moreover, I had a great number of guests rave about the breadth of the band's playlist and the variety of their music. Some said, This is the best wedding band that I have ever seen! These are not just runofthemill wedding guests, either, I am talking about people, who have been on the wedding circuit and who know a thingortwo about a good wedding band! The band was purely entertaining and they timed their breaks harmoniously with the flow of the event, so as not to lose momentum in the vibes of the night.
Adam and I recall vividly looking back from the dance floor at the tables under the tent and noticing that not a single guest was sitting, disengaged, or looking as though they were not having a good time. This was what we wanted!!! People were on the dance floor and having FUN! Having brought together so many different people from so many different phases of our lives, it truly was a phenomenal feat to have them ALL entertained. We can hardly express how great the band was! We love The Significant Others.

Thanks for reaching out! Will and I had a fantastic experience with The Significant Others! Leading up to the wedding, they were extremely easy to work with. Their questionnaire was clear and helpful, and they answered any questions we had. They were enthusiastic about learning the song we had requested for our first dance which was nice.
The day of was just perfect. I didn't see the band until after the ceremony, but it seemed that they took care of setting up, getting settled in, eating, etc just fine, and were totally ready to go when it was time to start! They were great emcees for our introduction, and helped set the tone for the night. Their performance was outstanding. They played a fantastic variety, all with so much passion and energy. Our guests all had a blast, and they did a really good job of getting people pumped up, especially every time they came back from a break. The volume, lighting, everything about their performance was just perfect.
They ended with Don't Stop Believeing, which was just awesome. It got everyone out on the dance floor, and they read the crowd perfectly. Overall, we could not have asked for a better band to work with.

The Significant Others were indescribably good. Their online recordings do not do them justice. As a music group, they have an extremely unique, personal vibe. During our dinner hour, they chose perfect music to accompany dinner, and man did they start the party when it came time to start dancing. They were incredibly fun, and made the night. Our guests (of all ages) could not stop raving about them. When we look back on our wedding, they stand out as the one of the best parts of the day.
Leading up to the wedding, they were accommodating and professional. They made sure that we had all we needed before the wedding so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. Just before we were introduced at the reception as a couple, one of the bandmates made sure that we knew what we were doing since everything was a blur. Afterwards, the whole band introduced themselves which really made a difference.
Overall, we cannot recommend them enough. We wish we could get married again just so that we can have them perform for us again!

We absolutely loved The Significant Others it was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. We received many very genuine compliments about the band, including one guest that said The Significant Others were one of the best bands he'd seen in the last twenty years. Our time with the band was supposed to begin at 7:30, but Scott graciously agreed to play our first dance song at 7:00 with no problem, which was really special for me and Rich. Also, The Significant Others made sure they played the songs on my must play list and the rest of the songs in their set fit perfectly with our style / preferences. Many of our guests never left the dance floor and the dance floor was still full through the last song of the evening. One of the best parts about The Significant Others was that they really interacted with the crowd and really helped get everyone into the celebrations. My husband and I had recently attended another wedding where the band played beautifully, but they didn't really get the crowd into it. Scott and the rest of the band was really wonderful about making their performance really personal to our wedding. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about the band, they truly gave a memorable performance. Lastly, working with you and the rest of the team at Sam Hill made bookings so easy and seamless we would definitely recommend Sam Hill and The Significant Others to anyone looking to book a live band for an event.

Thank you for your email and for the congratulations! Kyle and I got back from our honeymoon last week and have been absorbing the many blessings we've received at our wedding and while away.
Our wedding day was an absolute dream. The Significant Others were, hands down, show stoppers! We received so many compliments from our guests about how good they were and how much fun they had. And of course, Kyle and I loved them. Kyle even said I've never had that much fun at a wedding before! It's so awesome that it was our wedding!
Prewedding, Scott and the band were easy to work with and were very timely with their responses to our (sometimes crazy) questions. They were very professional and very accommodating.
During the reception, Scott and Dave found Kyle and I to touch base on the timeline. We were off timeline schedule by about 1520 minutes, but the guys were completely cool about it and made everything work. They announced the toasts and first dances and kept everything moving along. And it was so wonderful to have my younger brother perform with them after the first dances. They sounded so great!
I think one of the best parts of the reception and the band is that at the end of the night, they KILLED the last song (Journey Don't Stop Believing) and left EVERYONE there wanting more! I think even some of our guests started chanting encore!
We would most definitely recommend The Significant Others and have been spreading the word to all our friends and family who have been asking How did you find them? Kyle and I love live music and we felt like we had a exclusive concert performance at our wedding. It doesn't get any better than that!

Good Morning Andrew,

WOW is how I would describe the service and reception. And WOW again is how I am describing the Significant Others. They were just perfect for us. Everyone enjoyed them during the appetizer portion of the evening right up until the very last song. Our most frequent question from guests where did you find THEM?? And of course, we gave out Sam Hill Entertainment as the source. They were so nice, so very genuine.

Maggie had requested that her youngest brother (22) sing with them on one song Can't Take My Eyes off of You. They later told my husband that these sing alongs can go very right or very wrong. They requested that Aaron swing by and run thru the song with them. Aaron was a groomsman also, so that left very little time to do that, but he did. Anyway, they told my husband that as soon as Aaron started singing they all gave each other the thumbs up that this was going to be good. And it was good as they all performed together during the reception. We so appreciate their cooperation.

We all danced and danced and danced our guests danced. The dance floor was not empty at all from the time we opened it up for dancing until the band said their good nights. And as we all like to say, on a good note, the band left everyone wanting more!

As to their packing up, it was efficient and quick. I hope they had as good of a time as we did they deserve it!!

I will pass along some pictures as I get some to you. I did not have a camera in my hand that evening which meant I REALLY enjoyed myself too!

The wedding was a smashing success, and one of the main reasons was the Significant Others. They really knew how to motivate the crowd and kept the party roaring all night. It's the only wedding I've been to where people were screaming for an encore and many of our friends are musicians so that really says a lot! The guys were also really accommodating, allowing me to play a couple songs with them on guitar, which was an absolute blast.
All in all it was easy, smooth, and great and we'll be sure to tell anyone who asks!

Thanks for the note and the well wishes. We could not have been happier with The Significant Others! Scott, Sully, and crew were absolutely amazing and exactly what we were looking (and hoping) for in our band. We had repeated comments from our guests both during and after the reception saying how much they liked the band and how great they were.
The song selection was perfect for the wideranging age groups of our guests. I'm pretty sure everyone was on the dance floor at some point or another! The band's highenergy and vibe kept us moving and wanting more. We were thrilled with their version of You and Me Together and Angel Baby Sully absolutely nailed the vocals and the band sounded great!
Please feel free to share this with the band. We also plan on sending them a seperate thankyou note. We can't thank you, Sam Hill Entertainment, and the Significant Others enough for everything in making our wedding perfect!

The Venture Rays were awesome...extremely talented and not your typical 'wedding band'...a good thing! I met the Band earlier in the afternoon before the magical festivities....and we immediately clicked! I told them to relax and have fun....and that this wedding crowd was a unique blend of music lovers and party animals! Their song selection was outstanding as were their musicianship! They were flexible in allowing my good buddy, Michael Bennett , to join them for a few songs playing lead guitar (Michael is an outstanding guitar player as well). In addition, they surprised me with one of my favorite songs..SoulShine..(with a little advanced suggestion from my lovely daughter and new son) as the grand finale! They said they had a blast as well! So, I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat...drum beat.....guitar riff...whatever!

The Venture Rays absolutely blew us away. We have received so many rave reviews since the party. Nineyearolds and 90yearolds were dancing all night. The guys learned our first dance song and played it beautifully, they let my brother sit in on a special tune, and even played backup for his best man toast. We are finally adjusting back into reality after the wedding and honeymoon. We seriously had the best time at our wedding and a lot of that had to do with the Venture Rays. Scott and the band we so awesome they really played a great set. I have to tell you I am not a big dancer, but during the reception i never stopped dancing and having a great time. Adam is the same way and he was right next to me on the dance floor for most of the night.
Adam was thrilled that they played a Mumford and Sons song, its one of his favorite bands thee days and i had mentioned it in the Venture Rays questionnaire, so it was so awesome that they played it that night.

The Venture Rays far exceeded our expectations at our wedding. The playlist was just the ticket and I would have to say the majority of the crowd were dancing for most of the night.
I'm picky with my music and I did not want your typical wedding band music. They played songs that I had in my library and were super flexible when it came to changing things up. For example, I switched my first song on them last minute, and they had played it like it was on the back of their hand. I had a smile from ear to ear the whole day and night and I would have to thank the Venture Rays for a huge part of that.
I danced my ass off and the crowd was with me most every step of our way at one point, a friend of my husband's said to him that he had never been to a wedding where over 80% of the guests (young and old) were on the dance floor at one time. Other notable quotes from our guests included, This is THE best band I've ever heard and More, more, more!!! (at the end of the night...) most left exhausted, but all left with a smile on their face and a ring of fire in their heart. Thank you Scott and the rest of the band for being a part of our special day!

Thanks for reaching out. The Venture Rays were wonderful! They really did a spectacular job at our wedding. My biggest thing was having a band that could keep people out on the dance floor and Venture Rays did just that. So much dancing!!!

The Venture Rays perform a great show including both modern music along with some not so distance past hits with a modern twist. The band is current, professional, and easy to work with. They've been at our outdoor events the last two years, and we consider them one of the top bands in Central VA.

Hi Andy,
We are back from the honeymoon and all settled in, so I wanted to respond to your email that I received last week. I'm not sure if my mom responded yet or not, but we absolutely loved the venture rays. They played a wide variety of music for our guests... everyone (including me!) was on their feet the entire reception. They played the familiar hits with their own twist to the song... and kept it upbeat to keep the crowd interested. We had some issues with the weather and they were very accomodating. They even played a little late for us when the other parts of our reception (dinner, cake) went long. They really made our event the amazing party that it was, despite some rain!

Many of our guests complimented us on the talent of the band and couldnt believe that we hired them without ever seeing/hearing them in person! I would absolutely hire them again I just wish we could have heard them play for longer during the night. I was on the dance floor chanting One more song! at the end of the night... sadly we were already past the noise ordinance time for the town.
