The quintessential New Orleans rock n’ roll band, COWBOY MOUTH, is back with their latest release, Fearless. About eighteen years ago in New Orleans John Thomas Griffith (“Griff”) and Fred LeBlanc formed Cowboy Mouth, and they haven’t looked back since. The band has maintained a steady touring schedule since their formation, gaining in popularity steadily throughout the years through the notoriety of their barn burning live shows. Cowboy Mouth has sold over 450,000 units domestically, and has performed on The Ellen Degeneres show, Live with Regis and Kelly, The Late Show with Craig Kilborn, MTV, VH1, and had music featured in the Steven Soderburgh film "The Underneath".
The band is led by Fred LeBlanc, Cowboy Mouth's maniacal drummer/lead singer (think the Tasmanian Devil playing drums like Keith Moon with a voice like Bo Diddley) and John Thomas Griffith on lead vocals and lead guitar. Fred came to Cowboy Mouth after four years with the southern punk band Dash Rip Rock. Also an accomplished producer, Fred mixed the band's first two studio recordings and also earned a gold record for producing Deadeye Dick's hit song from the movie Dumb and Dumber, "New Age Girl." LeBlanc has written many of Cowboy Mouth's noteworthy songs such as "How Do You Tell Someone", "Love Of My Life", "Disconnected", "Take Me Back To New Orleans", "Easy", "Tell The Girl", "So Sad About Me", "The Avenue", as well as the band's signature song "Jenny Says".
Known as the Cowboy hat wearing rebel, John Thomas Griffith’s voice is smooth as silk, and blistering guitar work knocks it out of the park every night. Before forming Cowboy Mouth, Griff was the lead singer of '80s band The Red Rockers, who had a top-selling album on Columbia Records. Their hit song "China" was one of the first hits on MTV, and is still played on the radio today. Griff’s influences and travels have helped make Cowboy Mouth one of the best live acts on tour today. Three years ago, John Thomas Griffith was bestowed the honor of joining some great Texas guitarists, such as Eric Johnson, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), and Johnny Winter, in Buddy Magazine's Texas Guitar Hall of Fame.
Over the last year, Jonathan Pretus has toured consistently with Cowboy Mouth, performed on Live with Regis and Kelly, and contributed rhythm guitar, backing and harmony vocals, and keys to the new Cowboy Mouth album "Fearless." Several media outlets have taken notice to Jonathan’s highly active performance styles, and have said this has helped bring the already high energy performance of Cowboy Mouth to a powerful new level.
Bassist Regina Zernay, formerly of Dreamworks/Megatronic band Halfcocked, was fronting her own band, Méchant, when she met Cowboy Mouth. She's played and recorded with over a half dozen local Southern California bands, including Big Violin (whose music was featured on The Real World), Red Delicious, and Jam Balaya (musical guests on two episodes of the TV show Half & Half). Regina’s bass playing, and stage presence sets the show on fire every night for Cowboy Mouth.
