BAN CARIBE is an exciting blend of Latin, Caribbean and Soulful Rhythm and Blues. Music based on the Afro-Clave all held together with pulsating percussion. The musical compositions and arrangements are spiritually inspired by the rhythmic beats and chants of African music. BAN CARIBE presents an unforgettable sound of soulful singing and latin rhythms.
Master percussionist and singer Kevin Davis wins enthusiastic fans wherever he performs. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he began his career with the Drum Bugle Corps in New York City. Influenced by the popular music of Sam Cooke, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmeri and others, Kevin performed with many world music ensembles throughout New York City. After studying abroad in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, he relocated to Virginia to complete his formal education at Virginia State University. While in Virginia, he quickly fell into the music scene touring with artists throughout the Virginia, Washington D.C., and Baltimore areas. Currently residing in Richmond, Virginia, his love for Caribbean music eventually led to the creation of the BAN CARIBE ensemble, which he formed in 1984.
BAN CARIBE will create memories of tropical sands, balmy island breezes, and the clear water of paradise.
